Top 5 Cool Videos for January
I’m gonna try to put up my list of top five cool animation videos every month. Let me know if you have any suggestions, or just add your own in the comments!
Here are my faves for January.
#5 – Kiwi! by Dony Permedi. I was pointed in the direction of this one by Corinne. It’s about how a flightless bird fulfills his dreams.
#4 – Cornelius’s “Fit Song” MTV. This excellent MTV from was directed by Koichiro Tsujikawa. I’m still trying to figure out if it’s CGI or stop-motion.
#3 – Chapter 4 of Sita Sings the Blues: The Battle of Lanka, by Nina Paley. The Ramayana, done big-band style. Coolness.
#2 – “Femme” and “Sugar Baby Love” by Wilfrid Brimo. A pair of hilarious French AIDS Public Service Announcement, done in cool 3-D style. The first is for straights, and the second for gays. Warning: Not entirely safe for work.
#1 – Father and Daughter by Michael Dudok de Wit. A beautiful, beautiful piece about love and longing. It won an Oscar for best animated short film in 2000, and deservedly so.
